The Council is composed of a President, six members selected considering their expertise and experience in the fields of studies assigned to the Cerc  (appointed by decree of the Prime minister on July 29, 2004) and two ex officio members : the general director of the French institute of statistics and economic studies (INSEE) and the director of the research department of the ministry of social affairs (DREES).
